Concrete Fasteners for Strong and Robust Construction
Whether you are building your new home or taken up a home improvement project, fasteners are something important to be chosen carefully. For a house built with concrete, fasteners are used for once and ever most of the cases. Whatever you join or attach with the base material of the house you need fasteners compatible for that material. Concrete fasteners are different from wood and metal sheet fasteners. Wood panels or metal sheets are usually joined with screws. For heavy woodwork projects nuts and bolts are also used. But with concrete walls and slabs you have to use only concrete fasteners specially designed for that purpose. Some concrete fasteners are strictly used for concrete base while some can be used for bricks and blocks as well.
Concrete fasteners can be categorized in three types based on its diameter, size and usage. These are:
- Light duty fastener with smaller diameter for shallow embedment
- Medium duty for deep embedment
- Heavy duty for very deep embedment to attach large objects
These fasteners are chosen depending on the weight and size of the object to be attached. Since concrete is hard and solid material drilling into concrete pillars or wall is not easy. But again, you have to embed the fasteners to a certain depth so that it holds the attachment safely. The minimum embedment depth for concrete fasteners is derived depending on the material type of the anchor and its diameter.
Just as you are cautious about choosing any thing for your home be careful about fasteners because your home is built for once and for lifetime.
