Concrete Masonry Unit for Durable Construction

Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU), popularly known as concrete block is a common building material for modern high-rises and various other load-bearing structures. CMUs are available in form of high density or low density brick block with solid or hollow core. Made out of cast concrete high density blocks are more robust and durable to stand the test of time. On the contrary, low density concrete blocks uses industrial wastes as an aggregate and offers lower resistance and stress.

Most developed and developing countries use concrete masonry units for construction in urban areas. Durability, variety of size and shape and low maintenance are reasons for concrete masonry units becoming a popular construction material these days. But due to its bleak look and rough texture exposed surfaces of concrete constructions are given smoother finish with stuccos and brick paints. If there is no water logging problem a simple paint job can make concrete wall look good. Regular paints can do or you can also go for dry power paint that needs to be mixed with the water before you apply the paint on the wall. Glazed masonry is an ideal option to keep away mold and moisture.
